Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers Perform 'Free To Love' on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Duran Duran and legendary producer Nile Rodgers delivered an electrifying performance of their new single "Free To Love" on Jimmy Kimmel Live, transforming the late-night television stage into a vibrant celebration of music and unity. The performance featured an impressive production with backup singers, disco-inspired visuals, and colorful rainbow and unicorn imagery that perfectly captured the song's uplifting message.

Released earlier this month, "Free To Love" represents Duran Duran's first new musical offering of 2026. This energetic track continues the storied creative partnership between the British new wave icons and Rodgers, a collaboration that began four decades ago with the remix of "The Reflex" in 1984—the song that became Duran Duran's first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper.

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes emphasized the enduring creative chemistry between the artists, stating, "Every time we plug in and play with Nile, the electricity he generates could light up a whole city. We share a common belief that music is a force for good and something that brings positive energy into the world." Rhodes characterized the single as both "a call to all the people out there who want peace, hope, and understanding to prevail" and "an anthem for freedom."

Rodgers reflected on the deeper meaning behind their collaboration, explaining, "My love for Duran Duran and what our music together has always been about is the love we share for our song's deepest meanings. Whatever chaos is going on outside, inside the studio we're free to love our peace."

The band has an ambitious touring schedule ahead, beginning with their headlining performance at California's Beachlife Festival. This will be followed by a multi-night Las Vegas residency at the prestigious Fontainebleau resort, before embarking on an extensive month-long European tour.

Rodgers recently received significant recognition for his songwriting prowess, earning a place on the New York Times' prestigious list of the 30 greatest living American songwriters. In discussing his creative process, he noted, "I can have a terrific idea, in my mind, to start with, by the time I finish with it, I've rewritten it three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 times. So that's how I think of myself, that I'm an arranger, and because of my arrangements they become the foundation of the song."
