Megan Thee Stallion was taken to a hospital on Tuesday, March 31, after experiencing illness during her performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, which resulted in her leaving the show partway through.

“During Tuesday night’s production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” stated a spokesperson for the artist. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, took to X to urge fans, writing, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”

Megan Thee Stallion confirmed in February her participation in the Broadway production, taking on the role of Zidler, the owner and MC of the Moulin Rouge. Her run began on March 24 and is scheduled to conclude on May 17. This iconic role was originally portrayed by Danny Burstein, who received a Tony Award for his performance. Since the show’s opening in July 2018, other actors such as Tituss Burgess, Boy George, and Wayne Brady have also taken on this role.

“I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively,” Megan Thee Stallion expressed in a statement to The New York Times. “Theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace."

She further commented, “Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”
