A new documentary detailing the remarkable ascent and complex journey of YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been officially announced. This film promises to provide fans with a comprehensive glimpse into the life of one of modern rap's most influential figures.
Directed by Nico Ballesteros, known for the 2025 Kanye West documentary In Whose Name?, American YoungBoy focuses on the rapper’s sold-out Make America Slime Again Tour. The recently released trailer sets a dramatic tone, featuring the voice of a woman narrating against a backdrop of black-and-white footage of YoungBoy Never Broke Again navigating backstage at an arena.
“They tried to silence him,” the voice declares, juxtaposed with images from the tour. “They tried to bury him. Every scar became a story. The glow can’t be contained. It’s the takeover. The movement rises again and again. Tonight, the resurrection begins. It’s time to make America again, baby.”
The trailer presents a swift montage of vibrant concert performances, intermixed with poignant glimpses of life on the road. Notably, a headline referencing his 2025 pardon issued by Donald Trump is included, a subject that has not been extensively discussed by either involved party. The latter portion of the trailer showcases YoungBoy energetically performing his 2020 single “Kacey Talk,” concluding with the film's title and its scheduled release date.
The official synopsis indicates that American YoungBoy explores the rap artist’s “dynamic artistry, compelling stage presence, and widespread acclaim,” particularly spotlighting his highly successful MASA Tour, which comprised 42 sold-out shows. The documentary aims to delve into “more personal moments” during YoungBoy’s tour, featuring backstage interactions, rehearsal snippets, and insights into his family life and home environment.
This documentary arrives during a significant phase in the rapper's career, as he became the most decorated hip-hop artist in Billboard 200 history in 2025, surpassing E-40 with a total of 34 charting albums. Since then, he has further enhanced his Billboard 200 achievements with his most recent album, Slime Cry, which debuted at Number six on the chart in January.
American YoungBoy is scheduled to premiere in Regal Cinemas theaters on April 22.
