Zach Bryan's eagerly anticipated EP Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs Tour has officially debuted, featuring the captivating duet "Lies" alongside Lana Del Rey.
The track commences with a gentle piano melody, complemented by a shimmering string arrangement as Bryan delivers the first verse. Following a soft laugh from Del Rey in the background, she takes her turn in a subsequent verse, leading to a harmonious blend of their voices. Like the rest of the EP, "Lies" was recorded at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound in Nashville, with production credits going to Bryan, Jamie McLaughlin, and Eddie Spear.
Del Rey shared her excitement about the collaboration on Instagram last month, captioning her post with "Whale, we finally got our song done. And that's no lie," a clever nod to the track's title. Bryan's impressive history of collaborations includes partnerships with notable artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Kacey Musgraves. His 2023 duet with Musgraves, "I Remember Everything," was nominated for two Grammy Awards (Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance) and achieved the remarkable feat of reaching Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a first for both artists.
The EP also includes the track "Plainsman," featuring the Turnpike Troubadours. This release follows Bryan's extensive 25-track album With Heaven on Top, unveiled earlier this year. Recently, he announced an ambitious 23-date stadium tour scheduled for next year across North America and Australia, with John Fogerty, rising singer-songwriter Emma Ogier, and others set to open on select dates.
Meanwhile, fans of Del Rey are eagerly anticipating her upcoming album Stove, which will serve as a follow-up to her 2023 project Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Initially slated for release in May 2025, the album was postponed. In the interim, she has released the standout single "White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter" and announced that Stove will be accompanied by a "beautiful secondary album."
In her remarks, Del Rey expressed, "Thank you for waiting. It certainly is two of my most beautiful pieces of work, rooted in what I thought would be made out of growth and joy, but was peppered with a secondary compilation of songs that sprouted from doubt, hopefulness, and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over. When life decides to send you down another river, it's really not your choice, and it's truly an adventure of its own."
