Olivia Dean, Lola Young and Lily Allen nominated in top songwriting awards

The 71st Ivor Novello Awards have announced their nominations, featuring a stellar lineup that includes Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Lily Allen, and Jacob Alon among the industry's most talented songwriters and composers.

Dean, whose chart-topping success has marked her as one of the UK's rising stars, receives her first Ivor nomination alongside fellow newcomer Jacob Alon, who won the Brits Critics' Choice Award. This recognition represents a significant milestone for both artists in their burgeoning careers.

The Ivor Novello Awards hold particular significance within the music industry, as they specifically honor the craft of songwriting and composition. This focus sets them apart from other music awards, making recognition from the Ivors Academy especially meaningful for artists and composers.

The ceremony, scheduled for May 21st in London, will celebrate both the cultural impact and enduring importance of songs and screen compositions across various categories.

Lola Young continues her impressive track record with her fourth Ivor nomination, building on three nominations received last year. Similarly, Florence Welch earns her fourth recognition, while Lily Allen secures her third nomination with "West End Girl," her first album release in seven years, competing in the best album category.

The nominations also feature other notable artists including Wolf Alice, CMAT, Myles Smith, and Little Simz, demonstrating the breadth of talent within the British and Irish music scenes.

Roberto Neri, Chief Executive of The Ivors Academy, emphasized that this year's nominations showcase the "strength, diversity and global influence" of British and Irish songwriting. He noted that for over seven decades, an Ivor Novello Award has represented the most prestigious recognition of musical excellence, thanking the judges for their dedication in identifying this year's exceptional nominees.
