The Most Exciting Hotel Openings of Fall 2026
The dynamic landscape of hospitality has evolved, with fall emerging not merely as a transitional period but as a peak season for travel. This season welcomes a range of remarkable hotel openings, featuring boutique accommodations in the South and innovative hospitality experiences in mountain towns and coastal regions.
The Selvedge, A SingleThread Inn—Healdsburg, California
Where it's located: Set along the Russian River in Healdsburg, at the core of Sonoma County, The Selvedge is conveniently close to tasting rooms, restaurants, and boutique shops.
Why we're excited: The entry of the acclaimed SingleThread team into the realm of hospitality is both a natural and exciting evolution. Owners Kyle and Katina Connaughton have revitalized the historic River Belle Inn, drawing on their extensive experiences in England to create an ambiance focused on afternoon tea, Sunday roasts, and expertly paired wines.
Designed by AvroKO, the ten-room inn boasts garden-view and riverside accommodations, inviting fireplaces, and a spacious two-bedroom suite complete with its own Miele kitchen. Communal spaces—including a library, parlor, and coffee bar—encourage guest interaction. A full-service breakfast, crafted by the restaurant's culinary team, is included in the room rate, along with guaranteed dinner reservations at the on-site restaurant, an invaluable advantage during the busy harvest season.
The Observatory, A Viceroy Resort—Sun Valley, Idaho
Where it's located: Located in downtown Ketchum and mere minutes from the skiing opportunities at Sun Valley Resort, The Observatory lies within the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the first Gold Tier International Dark Sky Reserve in the United States, encompassing over 1,400 square miles of protected nocturnal vistas.
Why we're excited: Sun Valley has maintained its allure as a discreet getaway for discerning travelers, even as surrounding Rocky Mountain towns have become more commercialized. The Observatory marks Viceroy's inaugural major development since their brand's inception two years ago, introducing high-end hospitality to a region previously devoid of a true five-star option.
Featuring 73 luxurious rooms, including 12 opulent penthouses, this resort encompasses a full-service spa, an inviting restaurant, and a café and bar. The highlight is the rooftop observatory, offering unique programming led by local astronomer and celestial photographer Travis Amick that includes stargazing sessions and events synchronized with astronomical phenomena like meteor showers and planetary alignments. This unique property transforms Sun Valley into a vibrant year-round destination.
Recess Hotel & Club—Savannah, Georgia
Where it's located: Overlooking Jackson Square in Savannah's Historic District, Recess Hotel & Club reimagines the 114-year-old Manger Building—one of the city’s first skyscrapers originally founded as the Hotel Savannah in 1912.
Why we're excited: Creativity thrives in Savannah, admired for its artistic community represented by the Savannah College of Art and Design and its iconic oak trees adorned with Spanish moss. Recess, managed by the Left Lane hospitality group behind Hotel Bardo, embodies this creative spirit with a design philosophy that melds retro-futurism with a modern twist.
This 221-room hotel features lively, contemporary interiors that celebrate the historic character of the building. Emphasizing social interaction and enjoyment, Recess includes cleverly designed bunk rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, and "Rumpus Rooms" on each guest floor, furnished with mahjong tables and vintage video game consoles, making it the perfect choice for an exuberant East Coast weekend getaway.
The Warbler Hotel—New Orleans, Louisiana
Where it's located: Situated on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans' picturesque Garden District, recognized for its 19th-century mansions and tree-lined streets, the hotel benefits from its proximity to streetcar lines and Mardi Gras parade routes.
Why we're excited: The Warbler represents the debut hotel of local real estate development firm Verdad, showcasing deep community connections throughout its design and operation. The six-story hotel contains 58 rooms and draws its name from a Jazz Age term for a singer, reflecting the elegance of the Streamline Moderne architectural style.
Every aspect of this hotel reveals New Orleans craftsmanship: architecture by the local firm EskewDumezRipple, interiors designed by Jamie Bush (a member of the Dean's Advisory Council at Tulane School of Architecture), and a bar concept by CureCo, creators of beloved local establishments like Cure and Cane & Table. With versatile configurations for one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites, this hotel is ideally suited for families and groups.
Oyster Estate—Greenport, New York
Where it's located: Located in the heart of Greenport Village on Long Island's North Fork, this hotel is a mere five-minute walk from the Long Island Rail Road station and the Shelter Island ferry. The area is celebrated for its vineyards, farms, and breweries, brimful of activity during the harvest season.
Why we're excited: The comprehensive renovation of the historic Greenporter Hotel transforms it into a boutique experience featuring 34 rooms. Blue Flag Capital, which acquired the building in late 2022, commissioned Islyn Studio—known for projects like Dune House in Florida and The Tusk Bar in NYC—to lead the redesign.
This transformation introduces warm beige tones, natural wood finishes, and textured ceilings that transition seamlessly from common areas to guest rooms. The revitalized courtyard pool serves as a communal gathering space, complemented by Fortune Favors, an Asian-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar that anchors the new vision for the property.
The Nora Hotel—West Palm Beach, Florida
Where it's located: The Nora Hotel anchors the NORA District in West Palm Beach, an area emerging with shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, and fitness studios, all boasting walkable amenities often lacking in Florida.
Why we're excited: While many tourists gravitate towards the more glamorous Palm Beach across the Intracoastal Waterway, The Nora Hotel showcases the vibrant developments on this side of the bridge. This establishment marks the first significant collaboration between renowned hoteliers Sean MacPherson and BD Hotels outside of New York City, both of whom have helped shape the cultural landscape of New York through projects such as The Bowery, Hotel Chelsea, and The Ludlow Hotel.
Bringing sophisticated, moody interiors reminiscent of Lower Manhattan to the sunlit Palm Beach area, The Nora’s fall opening also features the regional debut of Starr Restaurants' Pastis, a Sisley Spa, and a rooftop restaurant named Lilly's. As a member of Leading Hotels of the World, The Nora signifies a new era of luxury for the region.
Park Hyatt Riviera Maya—Cancún, Mexico
Where it's located: Nestled within AMAI, a vast hotel development located between Cancún and Puerto Morelos, this property is positioned within a lush mangrove landscape that opens onto the Caribbean Sea. Its proximity to Cancún International Airport makes it an ideal choice for a quick East Coast getaway while still offering an authentic retreat experience.
Why we're excited: Park Hyatt is undergoing an expansion within Mexico, having recently opened Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol last December and preparing for the debut of Park Hyatt Mexico City in the near future. The Riviera Maya property is particularly significant as it marks the brand's first all-inclusive resort, all while upholding the luxury standards synonymous with Park Hyatt.
Each of the 152 guest rooms offers views of the Caribbean, with every guest assigned a dedicated Resort Ambassador serving as a personal contact throughout their stay. Culinary excellence is a focal point, with a chef-led program that features seven diverse dining venues. Wellness amenities include a beachfront pool, an open-air spa garden, and access to El Tinto Golf Course, ensuring a holistic luxury resort experience.
