Dell made its new Pro laptops thinner and tweaked their naming scheme, again

Dell has unveiled a refreshed lineup of Pro laptops alongside its recently relaunched Precision series. The new models feature a streamlined naming convention: Dell Pro 3, Dell Pro 5, and Dell Pro 7. The Pro 3 and Pro 5 are available in both 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, while the Pro 7 offers 13-inch and 14-inch sizes with 2-in-1 convertible options. All models are scheduled for a May release, with users able to choose between Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux operating systems. Pricing details remain to be announced.

The new Dell Pro laptops will support an extensive range of display and processor configurations, including AMD Ryzen AI 400 series "Gorgon Point" and Intel Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake" chipsets. Despite the numerous configuration options across the Dell Pro 3, 5, and 7 models, the company has implemented a unified approach with a smaller, modular motherboard design that fits all models in the lineup. This engineering innovation creates additional space for enhanced cooling systems with larger fans and more compact, high-density batteries, ultimately enabling the slimmer chassis designs. The Pro 5 models feature LPCAMM2 RAM technology, providing users with upgradeable memory that delivers improved performance speeds.

The announcement also includes the Dell Pro Precision 5 14S and 16S laptops, which will serve as entry points to Dell's revitalized Precision lineup when they launch in May. These 5S models will be available with both Intel Panther Lake and AMD Gorgon Point processors, positioning them as Dell's more portable workstation solutions that emphasize powerful integrated graphics capabilities rather than discrete GPU options.
