Ultrahuman's US Comeback Starts Now With the New Ring Pro
Ultrahuman has officially returned to the United States market, marking a significant milestone for the prominent Oura Ring competitor. The company's absence from American shores since October, stemming from a complex patent dispute, has now concluded following clearance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The legal challenges began when the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Oura in a patent infringement case against competitors Ringconn and Ultrahuman, as reported by WIRED in August. This ruling proved particularly challenging for the Bengaluru, India-based company, which had strategically established a manufacturing facility in Plano, Texas, to navigate tariff considerations. While Ringconn ultimately negotiated a royalties agreement with Oura, Ultrahuman chose a different path—withdrawing its Ring Air from the U.S. market and initiating a countersuit.
The company now anchors its American market re-entry on the launch of its advanced Ring Pro device.
Enhanced Hardware and Strategic Positioning
The Ring Pro represents a comprehensive hardware upgrade, featuring a redesigned heart rate sensor, dual-core processor optimized for machine learning applications, and substantial on-device data storage capacity of up to 250 days. The device's most compelling competitive advantage lies in Ultrahuman's business model: unlike Oura's subscription-based approach, the company provides core health metrics without ongoing fees.
This strategy extends to Ultrahuman's PowerPlugs ecosystem, which offers basic functionality at no additional cost, including advanced features such as ovulation tracking and lifestyle optimization recommendations for caffeine consumption and vitamin D absorption. Premium PowerPlugs services, however, do carry additional fees and encompass AFib detection, respiratory health monitoring, migraine insights, GLP-1 tracking, real-time biointelligence through Jade AI, and integrated mental health support via BetterHelp partnership.
The Ring Pro ecosystem includes the new Pro Charging Case, engineered to deliver up to 45 days of combined battery life and extend on-device data storage to one full year. Additional case features include "Find My Case" functionality, LED battery indicators, and accelerated firmware update capabilities.
Market Entry Strategy and Pricing
Preorders commenced immediately, with initial shipments scheduled for May 15. The company implemented a tiered pricing strategy, offering the first 1,000 customers a discounted bundle price of $349 for the Ring Pro and Pro Charging Case combination. Pricing increases incrementally throughout the preorder period before reaching full retail pricing.
Final pricing establishes the Ring Pro at $399, the Pro Charging Case at $100, or a complete bundle at $479. The device launches in four colorways: bionic gold, space silver, aster black, and raw titanium.
Market Implications and Competitive Landscape
Recent market analysis from research firm Omdia, conducted in November 2025, revealed Oura's dominant position with 74 percent market control, while Ultrahuman and Samsung maintained equal 9 percent market shares. With its strategic return to the U.S. market and the introduction of enhanced hardware capabilities, Ultrahuman positions itself to potentially reshape these market dynamics and challenge the current competitive hierarchy in the smart ring sector.
