Manchester United have secured the long-term services of rising star Kobbie Mainoo, with the midfielder committing his future to the club through a new contract that extends until 2031. The agreement concludes months of speculation surrounding the 21-year-old's future at Old Trafford.

Mainoo, who progressed through United's academy system after joining in 2014, has established himself as a key figure for the club. The talented midfielder has accumulated 98 appearances in United colors and achieved notable milestones, including scoring the match-winning goal in the 2024 FA Cup final and featuring in England's Euro 2024 final squad.

Expressing his commitment to the club, Mainoo stated: "Manchester United has always been my home – this special club means everything to my family. I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt."

The midfielder's future at the club appeared uncertain under previous manager Ruben Amorim, who had dropped Mainoo from the starting lineup, fueling departure speculation. However, interim head coach Michael Carrick, who is anticipated to assume the permanent managerial role this summer, immediately reinstated Mainoo as a regular starter upon his appointment.

Jason Wilcox, United's director of football, offered high praise for the young player, describing Mainoo as among the most "naturally gifted young footballers in the world." Wilcox emphasized the midfielder's multifaceted qualities, noting: "His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system."

The director expressed confidence in Mainoo's potential for continued development, stating: "We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours."
