Ella Langley Leaned on Her Faith to Perform First Concert Following Security Threat

Ella Langley made her return to the stage in Lubbock, Texas, following the cancellation of her concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was prompted by a security threat. During her performance, the country artist shared with the audience that she had contemplated cancelling the Lubbock show as well. However, she felt compelled by her faith to move forward, stating, "this calling and this tug at my chest that says it's OK. We are safe, and we can do this show."

Langley expressed the deep connection she has to her faith, saying, "If it wasn't for Him, I would have canceled this show tonight. I would have." She elaborated on her decision: "I decided to because of Him right there, and that's the only reason. Because like I said earlier tonight, every time I see 'do not fear' in the Bible, I underline it. Every single time. And I'm not gonna live in fear."

The cancellation of the concert in Tulsa occurred on Friday, Oct. 9, mere hours before the doors were set to open. Langley explained the situation, stating, "Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight's show. Your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm's way."

At the Lubbock concert, Langley reflected on the weight of her responsibility for the safety of her audience, composed of approximately 15,000 individuals. She remarked, "I decided to make the decision that I can live with the rest of my life. And that's what I did. When it comes to keeping you safe and making sure that this show is a safe place for us to come and enjoy our music, then it will happen. But the second it feels like it's not, I'm not doing it. No concert is worth a human life. And so I would have made yesterday's decision 10 billion times over. I'd do it tomorrow, and I'd do it the next day."

Langley's tour is set to continue on Oct. 12 and 13 with consecutive performances at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, followed by additional shows in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and beyond.
