Lizzo disclosed that she lost her virginity following her triumph of winning three Grammy Awards in 2020, fulfilling a longstanding vow she made to herself.

In her appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Lizzo, who is currently 37, confessed, “I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time.”

Reflecting on her choice to finally engage in intimate relations, she remarked, “I wasn’t even thinking about it. For me, I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”

Lil Dicky posed a question, asking, “Do you think you would have stuck to that? No. Eventually, you would have f**ked had you not won the Grammy.”

Lizzo responded thoughtfully, “Who knows.” She clarified that the night she lost her virginity “was not the night of the Grammys" but occurred shortly thereafter, though she was not contemplating it during her win.

“I didn’t even know that it was in my cards,” she expressed. “I wasn’t even really set up for that.”

Lizzo earned her first Grammy in 2020, taking home three awards that evening: Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts,” Best Urban Contemporary Album for the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jerome.” Reflecting on her past, she acknowledged that she used to tell people she had already been intimate, noting that she now feels “a weight off of my chest.”

She recalled instances of deception during her college years, during which peers questioned her virginity: “I was in a friend group of girls. We were all girling one night, and it was like, ‘Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?’ And I remember being like, ‘No!’ I remember it was so embarrassing. I said, ‘I love the D.’ I said that. I was so embarrassing. And it held me over for a little while.”

Lizzo also shared that she did not experience her first kiss until she was 21, attributing part of the delay to “religious” reasons: “When we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage.”

When her first kiss finally occurred, it did not meet her expectations. “I was actually very upset about it,” Lizzo recounted. “Because it was like a New Year’s Eve thing, and he like forced it on me. I was really mad, and I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined.’ I was so mad.”
