You Can Now Book Your Airport Transfers Directly Through Airbnb

Airbnb has enhanced its service offerings by introducing private car services through a new partnership with Welcome Pickups. This strategic collaboration represents Airbnb's continued efforts to broaden its range of services and facilitate guest experiences beyond accommodations. Effective Tuesday, travelers in over 125 cities spanning Asia, Europe, and Latin America will have the option to pre-book rides that connect their Airbnb accommodations with various departure or arrival points, including airports and other transportation hubs. This development follows the launch of Airbnb's comprehensive Services product introduced in May.

“Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” stated Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer, in the press release announcing the collaboration. “Now guests can book a private car service in advance, taking the hassle out of organizing transportation in a new city. We’re excited to expand Airbnb Services with more helpful offerings, and this is just the start.”

Through the new partnership, eligible guests will find the car-service option available in the Trips tab immediately following their booking. Once the service has been reserved, transfers can be effectively managed within the Airbnb app. For guests arriving at their destination, Airbnb provides the option for a meet-and-greet, where a driver will be present at the pickup location holding a sign displaying the guest’s name. For departing guests, the service is structured to collect travelers from their listings and transport them to the airport or another transit hub.

Airbnb promotes this service as a solution to one of the more unpredictable elements of travel—the first and last mile in an unfamiliar location. In its announcement, the company highlighted airport pickups, late-night arrivals, and confusing pickup zones as common challenges for travelers, particularly after long-haul flights.

The rollout of this service builds upon a pilot program launched earlier in 2026, during which thousands of guests across Europe and Asia utilized the service. These rides received an impressive average rating of 4.96, based on feedback collected from trips taken between January 1 and March 15, 2026. Initial launch cities include prominent locations such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City, with further destinations planned for expansion throughout 2026.

This initiative is part of Airbnb's broader strategy to enhance its app's utility for guests both prior to check-in and post-checkout, effectively transforming transportation and other auxiliary services into integral components of trip planning. This move also positions Airbnb more directly in competition with travel platforms that incorporate bundled services, including airport transfers and local tours, into a single booking experience.

“Arriving in a new destination should feel exciting, not stressful,” remarked Alex Trimis, CEO of Welcome Pickups, in the release. “For years, Welcome Pickups has helped travelers plan that moment in advance, with reliable transfers and a personal welcome waiting when they arrive. We’re thrilled to partner with Airbnb to bring that experience directly into the travel journey and help even more guests start their trip with confidence.”
