Luke Littler wins fifth Premier League Darts night to return to top of table

World number one Luke Littler delivered another commanding performance in the Premier League Darts season, capturing his fifth night win in Aberdeen to reclaim the top position in the standings.

The 19-year-old prodigy followed up his impressive victory in Liverpool the previous week with a stellar display in Scotland, defeating Luke Humphries 6-5 in a thrilling final that propelled him ahead of Jonny Clayton at the summit of the table.

Both Littler and Clayton have already secured their places in the season-ending play-offs at London's O2 Arena on 28 May. However, the Aberdeen night proved crucial for the chasing pack, particularly for world number two Luke Humphries, who reached only his second final of the current campaign.

The final between Littler and Humphries proved to be a captivating encounter, marking their fourth last-leg decider in just 13 weeks. Humphries mounted a serious challenge, breaking serve in the seventh leg after capitalizing on Littler's missed attempt at the bullseye. The experienced player then held serve to move within one leg of claiming his first night victory of the year.

Despite facing this pressure, Littler demonstrated the composure that has made him such a formidable competitor. The teenager won three consecutive legs to turn the match around, breaking serve in the tenth leg to force a decisive final frame. Although he missed three match darts on his preferred double 10, Littler maintained his nerve to seal victory with his fourth attempt.

The quality of play throughout the final was exceptional, with Littler achieving an average of 104.11 compared to Humphries' 103.10. This victory brings Littler within one night win of matching his record-breaking tally of six from the previous season.
