Kirsty Muir has made history as the first British woman to secure World Cup titles in both freeski slopestyle and overall park and pipe.
The 21-year-old athlete from Scotland achieved a second-place finish on Saturday at the final slopestyle event of the 2025-26 season, held in Silvaplana, Switzerland. Muir earned a score of 75.54, coming in behind home competitor Sarah Hofflin, who recorded 80.07. This performance marked Muir's third consecutive podium finish, following her victories in Aspen and Tignes.
Her impressive season score of 280 points earned her the slopestyle Crystal Globe, surpassing Canada's Elena Gaskell by 69 points. Muir also secured a third-place finish in the big air season standings with 219 points, resulting in a combined total of 470 points in the overall competition, which encompasses slopestyle, big air, and halfpipe disciplines. This total placed her ahead of her closest rival, Canada's Naomi Urness, by 78 points.
Muir's groundbreaking victories came after a challenging experience at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina last month, where she finished just outside the medal positions, placing fourth in both slopestyle and big air events.
Reflecting on her near-misses at the Olympics, the X Games champion expressed to BBC Sport her determination to continue pushing boundaries in her sport. "I am really excited to go and try and learn some new tricks. I am excited to see where I can push myself and where I can push the sport," she stated.
Looking ahead, Muir outlined her plan for the next two years: "I will go and do everything that I would like to do and forget about the Olympics, and then when it comes round to qualification again I will get stuck in."
