Kanye West to return to UK for Wireless festival
Kanye West, the prominent US rapper, is set to headline all three nights of this year's Wireless festival, marking his return to the UK stage after more than a decade. This announcement comes in the wake of a career marked by controversy and public backlash, particularly regarding his antisemitic comments, for which he has publicly apologized.
The announcement coincides with the release of his twelfth studio album, Bully. Festival organizers have remarked that "Ye's UK comeback will be an extraordinary chapter in Wireless's story."
The Wireless festival is scheduled from July 10 to 12 at Finsbury Park, where West is anticipated to showcase tracks from his extensive catalog, spanning from his debut album The College Dropout (2004) to The Life of Pablo (2016).
As of now, no additional artists have been announced for the 2026 lineup.
West last headlined a festival in 2024 at Rolling Loud in California and has been at the center of several controversies, including being barred from entering Australia following inflammatory remarks about Adolf Hitler and Nazi symbols. In 2022, his partnership with Adidas was terminated as a result of his antisemitic statements.
In November, he met with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto to express remorse over his past comments. He further addressed his struggles with bipolar disorder in a letter published in the Wall Street Journal the following January, where he conveyed regret for his actions, including the use of Nazi symbols.
Despite these controversies, Kanye West has gradually been re-establishing his presence in the music industry, with performances at various international events in recent years.
Last year, the Wireless festival saw Drake headline all three days, an event that typically draws around 50,000 music enthusiasts each day for performances in rap, R&B, and hip-hop.
